The Scouse Nativity

Scouse Nativity by Kevin Fearon Oh Come ’Ed Ye Faithful It’s back baby! The daddy of them all is returning for 2026 as we get the gang together and take on THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD!  We’ve cut down the curtains for costumes, pinched a donkey from the zoo and got a loan manger so we’re all set for another Christmas show packed with silly jokes and amazing live music!  It’s Bethlehem, 0 AD (or 0 BC, I’m not too clued up on these things). Terry, a lonely shepherd looks out over the land and sees that all is good. Apart from that bloody great star. He should probably take a look at that.  But Terry’s shepherd mates are lining up the ale at the King Herod’s Arms and there’s no way he’s missing a night on the lash. Not at Christmas.  And so it came to pass (fortunately for The Royal Court) that Terry, in the pub with his mates, decided to keep a record of that beautiful star and the events that followed.  2026 years later we have finally unlocked the secrets of the Gospel according to Saint/Our Terry... The Scouse Nativity!  So get the flock down to The Court - Christmas begins right here! "A near constant flow of audience laughter" Liverpool Echo "A quickfire hoot from start to finish" Liverpool Confidential "You’d have to be a dog in a manger not to hail The Scouse Nativity a great big Christmas hit." Barry Castagnola - The Last of The Barry

Fresh from supporting Greg Davies on his ‘Full Fat Legend’ tour, Barry brings his own show to Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool. Having become a father quite late in life, in all honestly, he’s just delighted to be away for a few days to get some good sleep (although he won’t be telling his partner that and he hopes she won’t read this. Why would she? She’s not going to be booking tickets to see him in Liverpool). Embarrassingly, he’s got a racist dog, so a break from constantly apologising in the local park is also a bonus. Oh, and he’s furious his parents chose the name Barry. Expect stories about these and other awkward situations in a show packed with laughs. He’d like to point out that he wrote the above (and this) and to be honest, he finds it a bit weird to be writing in the third person. He also thinks it’s presumptuous to say his show is packed with laughs (even though he’s very confident it will be). Why don’t you be the judge and come along? He’d also like to clarify that the quotes below weren’t written by him but by actual reviewers (and an endorsement from Greg Davies). And he’d like to thank you for the time you’ve spent reading this and he hopes to see you on the 24th September. “Astonishingly funny”★★★★★ -The List “Perfect" ★★★★★-3 weeks “Hugely entertaining” ★★★★ -Chortle "A confident, likeable comic, it’s his self-deprecating bemusement that provides the most hilarity.” ★★★★ -Metro “His charm and willingness to make himself look ridiculous carry him through the trickiest of subject matter.” ★★★★ -Edfest "By far the funniest Barry I know (since my uncle died)" -Greg Davies Presented by Rustle Up Productions Performance Information Approximate show duration: 1 hour and 50 minutes including a 20 minute interval Age Rating: 16+ Please note – the bar will close 15 minutes before the advertised start time. Latecomers will not be admitted so please arrive in good time. Please contact Box Office on 0151 709 4321 if you require wheelchair access. There are two wheelchair spaces available for each show. There are no booking fees payable (hurrah!)

Fragments

Fragments is an anthology of three interwoven worlds, performed by three actors, bound by a single question: what makes us human when everything else falls away? From a future where connection is almost extinct (With You), to a collapsing city haunted by loyalty and moral paralysis (Demons), to a nightmarish descent into obsession and power (Macbeth), Fragments is a triptych of psychological rupture. Enter into a charged space between repression and rebellion, beauty and brutality.

The Talented Mr. Ripley

“I never wanted to murder anyone. It was necessary.”Step into a world of deception, desire, and deadly ambition. How far would you go to become someone else?Tom Ripley is a nobody—scraping by in New York, forging signatures, telling little white lies—until a chance encounter changes everything. When a wealthy stranger offers him an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy to bring home his wayward son, Dickie Greenleaf, Tom leaps at the opportunity. But in the sun-drenched glamour of 1950s Italy, surrounded by shimmering waters and whispered secrets, Tom is seduced by the life Dickie leads—the freedom, the wealth, the effortless charm. Fascination turns to obsession, and as his grip tightens on Dickie’s world, the lines between truth and deception begin to blur. What starts as an innocent opportunity spirals into a chilling game of lies, identity theft, and murder. The ten-strong ensemble cast is led by Ed McVey as Tom Ripley. Ed was one of the stars of the hit Netflix show The Crown. EastEnders regular and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Maisie Smith will star alongside him as Marge. Now Bea is back, and Alice demands to know why Bea left, but Bea is determined not to tell her, while she annoyingly takes over Alice's space with all her backflips and her handstand, stopping Alice from zoning out and wasting away in her room. Game of Crones

Game of Crones, a ferociously funny, gloriously unapologetic celebration of women in their prime. Think the female Mighty Boosh of a generation. Surreal and wildly funny, with razor-sharp insight hiding beneath the mayhem. Part epic quest, part riotous rebellion, Game of Crones sees the duo storming back onto the battlefield to confront the so-called “third age” - that mythical land where society insists women quietly disappear.
